Arai presents one-off “Jolly Roger” carbon Corsair-V RC to four-time AMA Superbike champion Josh Hayes

(Allentown, PA) – In celebration of Monster Graves Yamaha’s Josh Hayes winning his 4th AMA Superbike title, Arai Helmet Inc. has presented Hayes with a one-off, special edition of its ultra-high-end Corsair-V RC (Racing Carbon) helmet. Hayes clinched the title in dominating fashion, winning both Superbike races this past weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

The special-order-only Corsair-V RC utilizes a carbon fiber shell based on Arai’s Formula One Gran Prix helmets, and retails for $3,995.95 in clear coat only or $4,295.95 for race replicas. The version presented to Hayes is even more exclusive, featuring the original rendition of Hayes’ popular “Jolly Roger” graphic scheme.

A native of Gulfport, Mississippi, Hayes has won all of his major championships wearing Arai helmets, including three consecutive AMA Superbike titles from 2010 to 2012, the 2006 and 2007 AMA Formula Xtreme championships and the 2003 AMA Superstock title.

“Josh is truly one of the greats in U.S. motorcycle road racing,” said Jeff Weil, Arai North America Race Support Manager. “On top of being a world-class racing talent, he has also been an outstanding steward of the Arai brand. We wanted to present Josh with a fitting gift to celebrate his latest title, and we think the Jolly Roger Corsair-V RC certainly fits the bill!”

Arai announces innovative Pro Shade visor system

(Allentown, PA) – Arai Helmet, Inc., makers of world class, handmade helmets for more than six decades, is excited to announce the all-new Pro Shade System, an innovative, easy-to-use visor accessory that will benefit street riders of all disciplines, from commuters to long-distance tourers.

Replacing the face shield of any current Arai full-face helmet that uses the SAI-type shield system, the Pro Shade System installs in seconds and offers a multitude of benefits. When raised, the Pro Shade’s visor acts a translucent peak, minimizing overhead glare. By lowering the shield, the rider can reduce the amount of direct light entering the helmet, which is particularly beneficial when the sun is lower in the sky. The Pro Shade System can be quickly and easily raised or lowered by hand, offering riders the chance to block glare as needed, depending on riding conditions.

One unique advantage of the Pro Shade System is its ability to allow the rider to quickly block sudden bursts of light without even having to remove their hands from handlebars. With just a subtle dip of the head, the rider can quickly and easily position the visor to block out glare, all while keeping their hands on the bars and eyes on the road.

The Pro Shade System comes installed on a MAX-V Brow Vented shield, providing excellent field of vision and Arai’s unique Brow Vent intake ducts, while an intelligent lock system prevents the shade from dropping unexpectedly. And since the Pro Shade System installs on any Arai helmet that uses the SAI-type shield system, riders can easily transfer the system between compatible Arai models.

As with any Arai product, the Pro Shade System strictly adheres to the company’s legendary obsession with rider protection. In the event of an impact, the movable portion of the shield is designed to break away easily. And the system itself in no way compromises the energy management capability designed into the helmet shell.

“We’re very proud of the new Pro Shade System,” said Brian Weston, Managing Director of Arai Helmet, Inc. “It provides features our customers have asked for, plus additional benefits we’re sure they’ll love, all without limiting an Arai helmet’s most important function: rider protection.”

The Pro Shade System will be available in late April 2014, and will feature an MSRP of $100.95.

Arai introduces all-new VX-Pro4 off-road helmet

(Allentown, PA) – Following up on the highly acclaimed VX-Pro3 model, Arai Helmet, Inc., makers of world class, handmade helmets for more than six decades, is proud to announce its worthy successor: the all-new VX-Pro4.

With a more aggressive look and a host of updated features and improvements, the VX-Pro4 is still at its core an Arai. And like all Arai helmets, that means its shell is made entirely by hand, by dedicated craftsmen, built to Arai’s unique R75 Shape concept. This results in a rounder, smoother and stronger shape that will more easily glance off impacts, instead of catching. The VX-Pro4’s shell is constructed using Arai’s exclusive Super Fiber for exceptional strength and elasticity, while its uniquely rounded chin bar maintains the same compact shell length as the VX-Pro3, resulting in even less likelihood for catching or digging in during a crash.

New features abound on the VX-Pro4’s exterior. An updated chin bar vent grill, which now mounts from the outside and can be easily removed for cleaning or damage replacement, is also designed to break away from the chin bar during a spill. Updated Air-Through top front, top rear and side port ducts greatly improve ventilation on the VX-Pro4, while also being easier to clean and maintain compared to the VX-Pro3. The new top rear duct diffusers can be easily removed or replaced simply by removing a single screw on the rear duct brace.

Up front, the VX-Pro4 sports a new peak that is 14mm longer and 5mm wider for improved debris and roost deflection. Larger air outlets in the peak also help to reduce lift and buffeting. To aid with goggle strap positioning, the VX-Pro4 features innovative strap locators in the side port cowlings and top duct center brace, helping to keep goggles in place during aggressive riding.

Interior updates on the VX-Pro4 include the removable neckroll for convenient and easy cleaning, plus an improved emergency cheek pad release system, with tabs that are easier to access by rescue staff.

“The Arai VX-Pro3 has been one of the most acclaimed off-road helmets available,” said Brian Weston, Managing Director of Arai Helmet, Inc. “With its improved features, updated design and legendary Arai focus on rider protection, we’re confident the new VX-Pro4 will only build on that tradition.”

The all-new Arai VX-Pro4 will be available for purchase in October 2014, in a variety of color and graphic choices, including White, Black Frost, Tip Orange, Tip Red, Tip Blue, Tip Yellow and NuTech. MSRP will be $599.95 to $609.95 for solids and $729.95 to $739.95 for graphics and racer replicas.
